A Tradition FOR Over 45 Years Strong

The Omaha Beautillion was founded by the Urban League of Nebraska Guild in 1977 as a formal debutante-style event celebrating high school senior males and their mothers. The tradition was carried forward by the Beta Upsilon Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. in 2008, and transitioned to the Omega Charitable Foundation of Omaha in 2013.

Each year, young men are selected to participate in a months-long program of mentorship, community service, and personal development — culminating in a formal gala where participants are presented to the community alongside their mothers in a memorable ceremony.

Program Overview

Since its introduction to Omaha in 1977, the Omaha Beautillion has prepared young men for life beyond high school through mentorship, personal development, educational encouragement, and meaningful community engagement.

Goals & Objectives

  • Prepare young men for success beyond high school, emphasizing college readiness, career exploration, and the skills needed for a successful transition into higher education, the workforce, or other post-secondary opportunities.
  • Build professional networks by connecting participants with business leaders, entrepreneurs, educators, and other members of the Omaha community who can offer guidance, mentorship, and career insight.
  • Develop character, confidence, and personal responsibility, reinforcing integrity, accountability, perseverance, and sound decision-making while helping each young man recognize his own abilities and potential.
  • Teach essential life skills through instruction and mentoring in goal setting, financial responsibility, communication, interpersonal relationships, and professional conduct.
  • Encourage community engagement by connecting participants with opportunities to serve in their schools, churches, neighborhoods, and the broader community.
  • Celebrate the transition to manhood and honor the role of mothers and families, giving mothers the opportunity to formally present their sons and giving participants a public moment to thank the women and family members who supported them.
  • Teach the value of earning and personal investment, giving participants hands-on experience in fundraising, relationship building, communication, sales, and financial responsibility.
  • Provide scholarships earned — allowing participants to generate educational funding through advertising sales, donations, and event ticket sales, with each participant receiving 40% of the funds he raises as a college scholarship.
  • Promote academic excellence, leadership, and service, encouraging high scholastic achievement, exemplary character, and a lifelong commitment to serving others.

Scholarships Earned: Turning Effort Into Opportunity

The Omaha Beautillion takes a distinctive approach to educational support. Rather than simply providing scholarships to participants, the program gives young men the opportunity to earn them through their own initiative. Participants raise funds through advertising sales, donations, and event ticket sales, and each receives 40% of the funds he generates as a college scholarship — creating a direct link between hard work, responsibility, and educational opportunity.

The lesson extends well beyond the scholarship itself: opportunity is something worth working for, investing in, and taking responsibility for. The Beautillion helps young men understand that their voice, relationships, effort, and ability to engage others can create tangible opportunities for their own future.

Nearly five decades after its founding, the Omaha Beautillion remains more than a formal presentation or a scholarship program — it is a developmental experience that prepares young men to become successful professionals, responsible citizens, supportive family members, and engaged community leaders. We invest in young men today so they can strengthen their families, their professions, and their communities tomorrow.
